Mind/Body Connection~For True Health
The power of the mind/body connection is something that is unfortunately often overlooked when it comes to our health. It is my belief that our thoughts and our emotions~psychological resiliency~play THE largest role there is in keeping us healthy. Mind and body are not separate. If you believe you are a victim you are one. If you believe you can’t do something you will never be able to, and so forth. I was recently in a car accident that has caused me a lot of pain. Being as active as I am it is extremely frustrating to be physically unable to do things I was able to just a month ago. However. I will not give up. I will not let someone take from me activities that I love. I will not focus on my pain. Instead I will think about how I am getting better everyday and be grateful that my injuries aren’t worse. I will use my mind to heal my body. The first thing I did after my concussion symptoms subsided was drive. And not just anywhere. I drove to where the accident happened. What I WANTED to do was never drive again. And I would by lying if I said it was easy because it wasn’t. However I knew that for my physical healing to begin I had to face this mental fear. Don’t ever discount the role that positive thinking and attitude have on your overall health and well being. Be just as disciplined in taking care of your mental health as you are with your physical health. They aren’t separate. They are one. #motivation#inspiration#mentalhealth#mindandbody
