Health Benefits of Olive Leaf Tea
Much of my nutrition research these past few months has been specific to anti-inflammation. Why? Because I’m in pain. And when you have pain, finding a way to relieve it is extremely motivating let me tell you. Since my personal stance is anti pharmaceutical, I have been trying various natural methods to reduce inflammation, one of those being increasing my olive oil intake. Maybe it’s the Italian in me because I’ve always loved olive oil as opposed to anything else for my salads and baking and pastas…. so it just made sense to drink it too! Olive oil tea (made from dried olive leaves) has been made in Italy for hundreds of years and is well known for its health enhancing qualities. For instance, did you know that olive oil/leaves have nearly double the antioxidants as green tea? They also reduce blood sugar levels and blood pressure, not to mention the high anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects!Just like when it comes to purchasing your olive oil, make sure when you are choosing your olive leaves they are high quality like this one from Evoolution. What I really like about this organic brand is that special care is taken when drying the leaves to ensure that antioxidants are not lost in the process. The taste is extremely mild so I’ve been pairing it with my other teas and I also enjoy it cold after a workout! For those of you looking for a simple way to get in some extra nutrition and start your new year healthy I highly recommend giving olive leaf tea a try?Happy Drinking!
